LECHOVO is a personal portrait of a village centred in a mountain region in the NW of Greece. It has strongly been affected by the Greek recession and there seems to be no end to it.

Director Anita Makris "As I entered this small village, where the Greek side of family originated from, I saw a place of endless emigration. 

This is a film about losing your work and the basis of your existence. And I wanted to show, how these forgotten and neglected places try to find ways out of a desperate situation."

 

LECHOVO is not only about a specific place, but stands for the loss of the basis of existence in the age of neoliberalism. And how people in Greece try to find ways out of it.
